This project aims to improve the reliability and resilience of the local highway network following on from the flooding during the winter of 2013/14. This has been supported by the Coast to Capital Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) to mitigate the effects of major flooding events in the future. This is proposed to be delivered in several phases of drainage and carriageway resurfacing improvements on the A24. Work resumed on 20 February 2017 and the scheme will conclude on 7 April 2017.
We will be carrying out structural repairs and cleaning to Burford Bridge and resurfacing the Northbound carriageway between Pixham Lane roundabout and Burford Bridge roundabout.
Bridge maintenance – 20 February to 7 April 2017
We anticipate these works to take six weeks to complete. During this time, one lane will be closed Northbound for 24 hours from just past the entrance to Dorking Wanderers football ground to Burford Bridge roundabout. Cleaning of the bridge will begin week commencing 27 February 2017. Minor repairs and repointing of the brick parapets will follow on from the cleaning. Scaffolding has been erected in order to allow safe access for the operatives to carry out the works.
Carriageway resurfacing – 9 to 21 March 2017
Our works along the Northbound carriageway from Pixham Lane roundabout to just past Burford Bridge roundabout were completed earlier than expected on Tuesday 21 March.
