Proposed village centre enhancement
In 2017 Surrey County Council consulted the public about a number of options for improving the centre of Bagshot village. Proposals to improve the area where the memorial is situated in the centre of the village proved to be the most popular option.
Different ways of creating an attractive shared community space giving more of a focal point to the village centre have therefore been considered. These all involve closing the small area of road identified in the attached consultation document. Working together with the parish council, a preferred option has now been identified. This is detailed in the consultation document along with the other options considered.
You can view the preferred and alternative options by downloading our consultation document (PDF).

Update 15 August 2019
Having considered the views expressed during the consultation, we will be introducing the preferred option detailed in the consultation document (PDF).
We had expected to start the works on 12 August 2019, however there has been a delay in obtaining the specialist materials which we had planned to use for the new community space and resurfacing of surrounding footways.
These materials had been agreed in consultation with the local conservation officer to ensure they create an attractive environment which is sympathetic to the village and its conservation area status.
We anticipate it will be approximately 3-4 months before we can now start work on the scheme. We will update this page with further information once the revised work programme has been confirmed.
