Proposed construction of pedestrian crossing
Surrey County Council are proposing to install a new 'push button' pedestrian crossing on the A24 Epsom Road, Ashtead near to the junction with Bramley Way. This will help improve safety for pedestrians crossing the Epsom Road to gain access to The Greville Primary School, The Burrow Nursery, Ashtead Park and the bus stops.
In order to provide this crossing, the existing pavement will be extended on the western side of the A24 to the south of the existing bus stop. The existing pedestrian island will either be removed entirely or converted into a traffic island only in order to encourage pedestrians to use the new crossing. Prior to the installation of the pedestrian crossing, a final decision will be made by our road safety engineers on whether or not to remove this island entirely.
Should you have any comments regarding these proposed works, please send them to the following address or email firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday 2 August 2019.
