Dene Road Ashtead speed table proposal

Proposed installation of speed tables

Surrey County Council are proposing to install speed tables in Dene Road, Ashtead (between the junction of Park Lane and Grove Road) in order to support a 20mph speed limit outside St. Giles C of E Infant School.

In 2013 signs and lights were installed in Dene Road to advise drivers to slow down to 20mph when the lights at these locations were flashing. These signs and lights were installed at a number of schools around the Mole Valley District, in order to assess their effectiveness at reducing driver's speed. Unfortunately the installation of these signs and lights when operating has not been successful at reducing drivers speed to 20mph or less.

As a result the Mole Valley local committee agreed to make the existing advisory 20mph outside Dene Road, Ashtead mandatory at all times. (The local committee is where County Councillor meet to discuss and decide on many of the issues that matter to those who live, work or study in the area). This will support road safety outside St. Giles C or E Infant School, and requires traffic calming measures to be installed to ensure that drivers do not exceed the 20mph limit.
