Runnymede parking review 2026

Page contents

There are a number of stages involved in the review. The current stage is: Authorisation

Introduction

Beginning in February and continuing through March we assessed on-street parking issues across the borough once again. These were issues of concern that had been brought to our attention largely by members of the public, the police, councillors and highway officers since the previous review took place.

We then visited, assessed, and prioritised the requests for new or amendments to existing parking controls in different locations across the borough. We then prepared a set of drawings and a statement of reasons of our findings and recommendations.

Authorisation

The drawings and statement of reasons were then presented to the Runnymede county councillors. The councillors looked through the drawings and read the statement of reasons. They are now satisfied, and have given their consent for the proposals to be advertised by public notice.

Advertisement and objections

All the councillor approved proposals will soon be advertised by public notice for 28 days.  Public notices will be put up in every location where changes to on-street parking are proposed, and a legal notice will be published in the local newspaper. Properties fronting locations where changes are proposed will be notified by letter.

The drawings and Statement of Reasons will be placed on deposit at libraries across the borough. The drawings and Statement of Reasons will also be attached to this webpage, along with a feedback form for you to complete and submit should you wish to comment on any proposal.

After the advertising period ended, all the feedback received will be compiled into a report and distributed to Councillors for them to read and make final decisions.

Please note that any Egham town centre proposals are displayed in the Englefield Green division.

Approval

The report divided by county councillor division and proposal, will have an initial officer recommendation on how to proceed, taking any feedback received into account. The report will be distributed to the Runnymede county councillors and the Traffic Enforcement and Parking Team manager to read. Councillors and The Traffic Enforcement and Parking Team Manager after talking with officers then agree on final decisions.

The final Decisions report is published below on this page. Everybody who participated during the advertising stage of the process will be notified that decisions on how to proceed have been reached. For those who wrote in, a copy of the report will be posted out to them.

Implementation

Lining and signing orders to install the agreed changes on the streets of Runnymede will then be raised with our contractors. The agreed changes will be installed.

A final traffic regulation order (TRO), will be written and published. This will make all the agreed changes to parking restrictions enforceable by patrolling officers.
