Woking parking review 2019

There are a number of stages involved in the review, these are explained below. To complete all the stages of the review takes between 9 to 12 months.

The current stage is: Advertising and objections

We have now assessed on-street parking concerns across the borough. These are the concerns that have been brought to our attention largely by members of the public, the police, councillors and highway officers since the previous review took place. We have prepared a report of our findings and recommendations.

Committee authorisation

We presented this report of our findings and recommendations to the Woking Joint Committee at its meeting on the evening of 25 September 2019, where all recommendations were approved. You can read the report and the decisions taken by the members in full. It is Item 25/18 on the Woking Joint Committee agenda, minutes and decisions page of this meeting.

Advertisement and objections

The parking proposals that were approved by the Joint Woking Committee, are now being formally advertised by public notice from Friday 17 January until Friday 14 February 2020.

Formal advertising lasts for 28 days. A legal notice at the start of the 28 days will be published in the Surrey Advertiser, and is available to read below. We are also be putting up notices in the streets where changes are proposed to be made for people to see.

All properties adjacent to the road where changes are proposed to be made are being notified individually with either a letter or A5 card through the door.

If you want to object, support or comment upon any proposal, you can submit your view by completing this feedback form.

The 28 days of formal advertising, allows residents and interested groups to give their own opinion on what the council is proposing to do. If you don't wish to use the feedback form your opinion must be submitted in writing.

You can view and download drawings of all the proposals at the bottom of this web page. These are presented in PDF format, and displayed by County Councillor division. Also available to read is a statement of reasons detailing each proposal and a copy of the legal notice.

Please note that any Woking town centre proposals will be displayed in the Goldsworth East and Horsell Village division.

All the feedback that has been received during the 28 formal advertising will be collected together in a report. This report will then be presented to the Joint Committee Chairman and the County Councillor for your area to read. Taking the feedback submitted into account, together we will decide on the best way forward and make final recommendations on how to proceed at each location where changes are proposed.

These final recommendations will be presented in a 'consideration of objections' report. Everybody who wrote to us with feedback during the formal advertising stage will be written to individually, informing them of the outcome. The consideration of objections report will also be published on this page for everybody to read.

Installing the agreed changes on the roads will then take place.

A final Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) will be made and published, so the changes made in the parking review then become legally enforceable by Civil Enforcement Officers.
