There are a number of stages involved in the review, these are explained below. To complete all the stages of the review takes between 9 to 12 months.
The current stage is: Committee authorisation
We have now assessed on-street parking concerns across the borough. These are the concerns that have been brought to our attention largely by members of the public, the police, councillors and highway officers since the previous review took place. We have prepared a report of our findings and recommendations.
We presented this report of our findings and recommendations to the Woking Joint Committee at its meeting on the evening of 25 September 2019, where all recommendations were approved. You can read the report in full on the Woking Joint Committee webpage.
Advertisement and objections
The parking proposals that have been approved by the Joint Woking Committee, will now be formally advertised by public notice. We anticipate this will happen at the end of 2019.
Formal advertising lasts for 28 days. A legal notice at the start of the 28 days will be published in the local newspaper. We shall also put up notices in the streets where changes are proposed to be made for people to see. All properties adjacent to the road where changes are proposed to be made will be notified individually by letter.
The 28 days of formal advertising, allows residents and interested groups to give their own opinion on what the council is proposing to do. Opinions must be submitted in writing.
To help you do that, a feedback form will be created. A link to it will appear on this page. You will be able to fill in this form on-line to submit your opinions.
Also at the formal advertising stage, you will also be able to view and download drawings of all the proposals on this web page. These will be presented in PDF documents and displayed by County Councillor division. Also available to read will be a copy of the legal notice and a statement of reasons detailing each proposal.
Please note that any Woking town centre proposals will be displayed in the Goldsworth East and Horsell Village division.
All the feedback that has been received during the 28 formal advertising will be collected together in a report. This report will then be presented to the Joint Committee Chairman and the County Councillor for your area to read. Taking the feedback submitted into account, together we will decide on the best way forward and make final recommendations on how to proceed at each location where changes are proposed.
These final recommendations will be presented in a 'consideration of objections' report. Everybody who wrote to us with feedback during the formal advertising stage will be written to individually, informing them of the outcome. The consideration of objections report will also be published on this page for everybody to read.
Installing the agreed changes on the roads will then take place.
A final Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) will be made and published, so the changes made in the parking review then become legally enforceable by Civil Enforcement Officers.
