Hospital transport information
If you or a family member need to attend a hospital appointment you may be eligible for the Patient Transport Service or the Healthcare Travel Costs Scheme.
If you are not eligible for either of these, there are other transport options
Patient Transport Service
Please see South Central Ambulance Service's "What's changing from April 2017?" PDF (348.8 KB) document for more information.
Healthcare Travel Costs Scheme
The Healthcare Travel Costs scheme provides financial assistance to those patients who do not have a medical need for ambulance transport but who require assistance with their travel costs.
Patients on low incomes or receiving qualifying benefits or allowances (such as Income support and Job Seekers Allowance) are reimbursed in part or in full for their travel expenses. For more information, please see Healthcare Travel Costs Scheme on the NHS website.
