Temporary changes to bus services and road closures

Temporary changes or road closure information that may affect your journey by bus will be listed below when details are available. This information is supplied in good faith and is accurate at the time of publishing. Passengers should be aware that changes in road closure schedules can affect the start and length of works and checks should be made with the bus operator before travelling

Saxbys Lane, Lingfield

Saxbys Lane, Lingfield will be closed between the junctions of Bakers Lane and Little Lullenden from Tuesday 23 April for 4 days (08:30 – 16:30). This is to allow Surrey County Council to carry out drainage and investigation works and repairs.

As a result of this closure the Southdown 236, 409 and 694, Metrobus 281 and Cruisers 315 services will not serve Saxbys Lane, Church Road and Station Road. The nearest alternative stops for passengers will be the "Station Road" stops on Town Hill or the "War Memorial" stops on High Street, Lingfield.

Bushy Hill Drive, Guildford

Bushy Hill Drive, Guildford will be closed between the junctions of Three Gates and Banders Rise on Friday 26th April for 1 day only (07:30 – 17:30). This is to allow Surrey County Council to carry out road surface investigation and coring works.

As a result of this closure the Compass 25 and Arriva 36 and 37 routes will not serve Bushy Hill Drive. The nearest alternative stops for passengers will be on the A25 Epsom Road; either "Merrow Church" or "Levylsdene" stops. Passengers for the Compass 25 service may alternatively use the bus stops on Collingwood Crescent.

A23 Bonehurst Road, Horley

The A23 Bonehurst Road, Horley will be closed between its junction with Chestnut Road and Bonehurst Bridge from Monday 29th April for approximately 8 nights (20:00 – 06:00). This is to allow Surrey County Council to carry out carriageway resurfacing works.

As a result of this closure, the Metrobus 100, 400, 420 and 460 services will be on diversion. Bus stops between Cross Oak Lane and Ladbroke Road will not be served ("Chestnut Road" and "Skylane Hotel" stops). Passengers should use the "Cross Oak Lane" bus stops on Bonehurst Road. Passengers for the 100 service can also use "Benhams Drive" stops on Horley Row, and passengers for the 400, 420 and 460 services can also use the "Chequers Roundabout" stops on Brighton Road.

Updown Hill, Windlesham

Updown Hill, Windlesham will be closed between the junctions of Chertsey Road and Windle Close from Monday 22 April 2019 for approximately 2 weeks. This is to allow Affinity Water to install water connections to a new development. The closure will be in place for 24 hours a day.

As a result of this closure, the White Bus 500 service will not be able to serve the bus stops on Updown Hill and Thorndown Lane. The bus will divert between Kennel Lane and Broadway Road via Pound Lane and Church Road in both directions. Passengers for the White Bus 500 service should use the bus stops on Kennel Lane, or alternatively the temporary bus stop that will be set up on Church Road (near to the junction with Thorndown Lane).

Plaistow Road, Dunsfold

Plaistow Road, Dunsfold will be closed between the junctions of Fisher Lane and Chiddingfold Road for up to 7 weeks, starting Monday 1 April 2019. Thames Water are undertaking major replacement work on their pipelines, and the road closure will be in place 24 hours a day. Access will be maintained for residents and emergency vehicles.

This closure will affect the Compass Bus 42 service for the duration. The once-daily extended route that serves Alfold Village, Ifold, Loxwood and Plaistow will not be in operation from Monday 1 April for the duration of the works.

A23 Brighton Road, Salfords

Resurfacing and resilience works are due to take place on the A23 Brighton Road, Salfords, between the junctions of Woodhatch Road and Lodge Lane. The works will start on Monday 1 April 2019 for up to 16 nights, between 20:00 – 06:00 (Mon-Fri only).

As a result of these night closures, the Metrobus 100, 400 and 460 services will be affected.

The Metrobus 100 service will be on diversion between Court Lodge Road, Horley and East Surrey Hospital. From the junction of Court Lodge Road and Lee Street, Horley buses towards Redhill will travel down Lee Street/Mill Lane towards the A217 Reigate Road. Buses will then use the A217 Reigate Road to Dovers Green, turning right onto Woodhatch Road, left onto Maple Road and then straight ahead onto Three Arch Road to serve East Surrey Hospital and normal line of route. This diversion will also operate in reverse for the return journey. Bus stops on Lee Street, Horley Row and the A23 between Court Lodge Road and East Surrey Hospital will not be served.

Between 20:00 and 06:00 the Metrobus 400/460 service towards Redhill will divert from Longbridge Roundabout via the A217 Reigate Road to Dovers Green, turning right onto Woodhatch Road, left onto Maple Road and then straight ahead onto Three Arch Road to serve East Surrey Hospital and normal line of route. This diversion will also operate in reverse for the return journey. Bus stops on the A23 between Longbridge Roundabout and East Surrey Hospital will not be served.

Battlebridge Lane, Merstham

Battlebridge Lane, Merstham will be closed between the roundabout junction with Nutfield Road and Southcote Road to the junction with Subrosa Drive from Monday 18 March 2019 for approximately 10 weeks. This closure will be in place 24 hours a day, 7 days a week whilst Sutton & East Surrey Water carry out major water main replacement works.

Because of this the Metrobus 430/435 service will not be able to serve all stops on Battlebridge Lane, the two stops named "Fairhaven Road" on Frenches Road, and the stop named "Trowers Road" on Frenches Road towards Merstham.

The nearest alternative stops for passengers are the two stops on Trowers Way named "Trowers Way" (at the Holmethorpe Industrial Estate), or the two stops on Nutfield Road named "Deans Road". All 430/435 services will divert between Frenches Road and Nutfield Road via the Watercolour Estate whilst this closure is in place.

Highlands Road, Leatherhead

Highlands Road, Leatherhead will be closed between the junction with St. Nicholas Hill and the mini-roundabout with Reigate Road and Headley Road from Monday 18 March 2019 for up to 12 weeks. This closure will be in place 24 hours a day, 7 days a week whilst SGN carry out major gas main replacement works. Because of this the Metrobus 21 service will not be able to serve all stops on Highlands Road and Reigate Road until the works are complete.

The nearest alternative stops for passengers are those on Headley Road (named "Tyrrells Wood"), and a temporary stop that will be placed on Gimcrack Hill, near to the junction with Church Road (close to the Church of St. Mary and St. Nicholas, serving both sides of the road).
