Temporary changes to bus services and road closures

Temporary changes or road closure information that may affect your journey by bus will be listed below when details are available. This information is supplied in good faith and is accurate at the time of publishing. Passengers should be aware that changes in road closure schedules can affect the start and length of works and checks should be made with the bus operator before travelling.

Dunsfold Road / Alfold Road, Alfold

The road from Alfold to Dunsfold will be closed for resurfacing from 7.30am on Monday 25 February 2019 for up to two weeks, on Mondays to Fridays. This means that bus service 42 (Compass Bus) will be unable to follow its usual route. The plan for Monday onwards is:

Dunsfold will receive service 42 journeys at the usual times to/from Godalming, Guildford or Cranleigh but possibly with some delays due to use of a diversionary route

Alfold Crossways will only be served by these journeys:

  • 07:56 and 09:13 from Alfold Crossways to Godalming (Note that the 09:13 runs via Loxwood and Plaistow)
  • 13:01 and 16:26 from Godalming to Alfold Crossways (Note that the 13:01 runs via Plaistow and Loxwood)

There will be no other journeys from/to Alfold Crossways due to the need to use a diversion route and no journeys at all on the road between Alfold Crossways and Dunsfold.

Woking, Town Centre

Woking Town Centre From Monday 18 February 2019 until further notice

Due to road works and closure of the new part of the High Street, buses will be unable to serve the stops in The Broadway by Woking station (stops 1 to 6) or stop A in High Street near Victoria Arch. A temporary stopping point will be located in The Broadway, opposite the junction with Locke Way.

Stop B in Victoria Way will not be served by services 48 (towards Frimley), 436 (towards Weybridge), 446/456 (towards Staines) and 556 (towards Addlestone)

Kingsland, Newdigate (Dorking)

Road Closure: Kingsland in Newdigate will be closed from 29 October 2018 for approximately 12 weeks for works by Sutton and East Surrey Water.

Service 21 (Metrobus) will be diverted as follows:

From line of route at Parkgate Road diverted via Hogspudding Lane, Church Road, Village Street, Henfold Lane, Mill Road to A24, then Beare Green roundabout to normal line of route. Same in reverse on return route.

Epsom Town Centre

Due to the night time resurfacing of Epsom High Street from Tuesday 26 February 2019 for approximately two weeks (Mon-Fri only), the following bus services will be on diversion between 8.30pm and 5.00am each evening:

293 – Buses due to arrive at Epsom Clocktower after 8.30pm will operate into Epsom from East Street via Hook Road, Chase Road and Waterloo Road. Service 293 will then terminate and also depart from Epsom Railway Station (Stop N) following the same diversion in reverse towards East Street where it will continue on its normal line of route. The last buses serving Epsom Hospital will be the 8.05pm arrival from Morden and the 8.09pm departure towards Morden.

406 – Buses due to arrive at Epsom Clocktower after 8.30pm will operate into Epsom from East Street via Hook Road, Chase Road and Waterloo Road. Service 406 will then terminate and also depart from Epsom Railway Station (Stop N) following the same diversion in reverse towards East Street where it will continue on its normal line of route.

418 – Buses due to arrive at Epsom Clocktower after 8.30pm will terminate and also depart from Epsom Railway Station (Stop N).

470 – The last two journeys arriving in Epsom after 8.30 pm will terminate at Epsom Railway Station (Stop N).

During the last phase of the works (date to be confirmed), when Epsom High Street is closed in one direction, from its junction with Church Street to Ashley Avenue, service 460/480 will not be able to serve the following bus stops: Epsom High Street (Stop K), Epsom Clocktower, and all stops on Ashley Road between Epsom Town Centre and Epsom Cemetery.

Buses will terminate at and depart from Epsom Railway Station (Stop N). Services towards Epsom will operate from Church Street via East Street, Hook Road, Chase Road, Waterloo Road and Station Approach. The same diversion will operate in reverse for buses towards Tattenham Corner, carrying on from Church Street via Burgh Heath Road, Treadwell Road, Ashley Road and onto normal line of route.

Metrobus 460/480 will continue to terminate at High Street stop 'K' until further notice.
