Link to: Road closure map (PDF)
The purpose of the event is to celebrate the life of Rob Walker, owner of the most successful privateer motor racing team that was based at Pippbrook during the late 1940's through to the 1970's. This unique motorsport event will bring together up to nine historic Rob Walker racing cars for a parade lap around Dorking town centre. Alongside this will be celebratory activities for all the family around the town centre.
The event will require the High Street to remain closed to all vehicles from 10 am to 12.30pm. Diversions will be in place to enable drivers to bypass the town during this period. Roads to be closed under the Town Police Clauses Act 1847 are Dorking High Street from Pump Corner to Dorking Halls, South Street from Pump corner to Junction Road, Junction road and west street.
The closure will also affect all tributary roads leading on to the High Street from Pump Corner to Dorking Halls, namely Old London Road, Wathen road, Ansell road, Mill Lane, North street, Butterhill, Rose Hill, Lyons Court, Dene street, Paper Mews and Moores road, Church Street, Myrtle Road, Rose Cottages, Meadowbrook Road, St Martins Mews and Chapel Court.
To facilitate this event advance notification signs will be erected warning road users to expect potential delays and managed access for residents will be put in place by event stewards.
