Your Caterham

Caterham is such a great place to live because of the many residents and businesses that are always working to make it even better. Together, residents are addressing topics ranging from climate change and flooding, to the attractiveness of the town centre for shopping.

However, there are always more ideas being raised for the first time by Surrey residents from all walks of life. All it takes is a meeting of like-minded people willing to give you a hand to build momentum, not perfection. You may want to plant a community orchard, start a support group for isolated dads, or turn a derelict building into a community café. Now could be the perfect time to get the help you need to make your idea happen.

Feature story: Growing Health Together in Caterham

Growing Health Together recognises the huge assets for health and wellbeing that exist outside of the formal health service in Caterham and the surrounding areas. From walking groups, coffee mornings and mutual aid groups that have sprung up following COVID-19, through to our local green and blue spaces, from which we can derive significant wellbeing benefits.

Comprised of a diverse range of local organisations and local people, our collaborative partnership intends to highlight existing resources that others might also benefit from. We also wish to enable local people to flag up new ideas that would improve health in our area and enable everyone to access the resources to be able to pursue these ambitions.

We believe this community-led approach to preventing ill health and enabling people to create health, will support wellbeing for our community in the wake of COVID-19, in ways that are sustainable and fair

Everyone is welcome to engage in this project. Further information about how to get involved will be available on the website when it is launched in late June 2021.

If you'd like more information on how to get involved, email: surreycommunities@surreycc.gov.uk.
