In 2008 Surrey County Council and NHS Surrey (formerly Surrey Primary Care Trust) developed the 'Joint Interim Strategy for Working with the Voluntary, Community and Faith Sector'. This has now been superseded by the 'Commissioning Framework for Working with the Voluntary, Community and Faith Sector'. This builds upon the principles of the Interim Strategy and the Surrey Compact and has been produced in conjunction with key partners of NHS Surrey, boroughs and districts and the VCFS. The framework holds the VCFS and users and carers at the heart of what the county council does and is reflective of the opportunities and challenges the current economic climate brings, with the increased likelihood of more public services being delivered by the VCFS.
This Interim Strategy was a transitional document produced to capture the debate at the time and to set out Surrey County Council's and Surrey PCT's intentions to work with the VCFS and a wider range of public sector partners, particularly our district and borough council colleagues, to create a joint partnership strategy.
This strategy (and its action plan) represented a journey and was reviewed regularly to ensure continuous progress.
