Find health and wellbeing advice in one place

Whether you're looking for ways to improve your mood and stress levels, wanting to incorporate more exercise into your homeworking routine or wondering if your drinking could be reined in a little, look no further.

You don't need to spend all your time trawling the internet to find information and local services. We have pulled together all the information you need in one place. Simply head to the Healthy Surrey website to find out more.

Looking after your mental health

It's been a time like no other. The experience of the last 18 months has been different for everyone but there's no doubt it's been tough for us all. Now more than ever, it's important to look after our mental health and wellbeing.

Your mind is just as important as your physical body, so it's important to keep it healthy.

Whether you're feeling sad, anxious, or low, have financial pressures and need support or could benefit from talking to someone, or simply want to use some tools and techniques, like the Mindplan Quiz to help manage your thoughts and feelings, support is here. Head to the mental wellbeing Healthy Surrey web pages for more information.

Our NHS and charity partner counsellors and mental health practitioners have shared some tips on maintaining your mental wellbeing:

  • "Be kind to yourself. We're all good at being kind and caring to others, but it's important to also be kind to yourself" Karou (CBT Therapist)
  • "Mindfulness is a useful tool, keeping you aware on a daily basis of the thoughts, feelings and emotions you're experiencing. If you feel you are suffering at any time, it's so important to reach out to someone, to talk to someone" Lorraine (Counsellor)
  • "Eating a well-balanced diet helps us to function at our best, it will not only help us feel physically well but also improves our mental health" Stuart (Mental Health Nurse)

Remember, not everyone deals with things in the same way. So even if you're not struggling, a friend, family member or child still might be, it's important to check in on others.

Eating well and keeping active

Whatever your age, situation, or ability, eating well and being active brings many health benefits. Whether you're looking for support to help you manage your weight or need tips to keep active, there's a range of information, self-help apps and local services available on the nutrition and physical activity Healthy Surrey web page.

Reducing your guilty pleasures

Drinking can be a way for people to escape and release stress, but it's important to keep an eye on your habits and know when you could be putting your health at risk. You can take a quick online Alcohol Test to see if your drinking could be putting your health and risk, and access free support.

If 2022 is the year you want to quit smoking for good, you can take advantage of Surrey's free stop smoking service. More information can be found on the stop smoking web page.

To help you find the support you need, Healthy Surrey's interactive health finder is a helpful way to help you book an appointment and self-refer to many of the services on offer.

COVID-19 and Flu Vaccinations

Making sure you take up the COVID-19 and flu vaccinations you are eligible for is one of the most important steps to keeping healthy. Head over to our Boosting your immunity this winter article for more information.
