Surrey Reading Aloud

Winner announced

The Surrey Reading Aloud competition organised by Surrey libraries and Brooklands Radio celebrates the joy of reading aloud.

Congratulations to Gemma Willcox, nominated by Liane Smith, winner of the 2019 Surrey Reading Aloud competition. Gemma received nearly half the votes in the competition reading aloud Dave Pigeon by Swapna Haddow.

The Reading Aloud competition has revealed a wealth of talent in Surrey, amongst children and adults, for reading stories aloud. If you enjoyed listening to Gemma and the other finalists reading extracts from Dave Pigeon by Swapna Haddow, A girl called Justice by Ellie Griffiths and Dogger by Shirley Hughes, you can borrow the books from most libraries and read the rest of the story.

Finally, don't forget to tune into Brooklands Radio on Christmas Eve to hear Gemma reading aloud a special Christmas story.
