Wild World Heroes, Summer Reading Challenge 2021

Surrey Libraries' brings you the summer of reading. With events, activities, challenges and so much more, get ready for your reading adventure.

This year's Summer Reading Challenge theme is Wild World Heroes and has been developed in partnership with WWF UK, the world's leading independent conservation organisation. Wild World Heroes will inspire children to stand up for the future of our planet.

This year's Reading Challenge launched Saturday 10 July, it's a massive celebration of reading, nature, and action for the environment! Presented by The Reading Agency and delivered by libraries, the Challenge motivates children aged 4 to 11 to keep reading to build their skills, confidence, and to help prevent the summer reading 'dip'.

Head over to the Libraries Summer Reading Challenge web page for more updates.

How to get involved

Visit your local library and sign up, read up to six books from your library, in any format, all reading is good reading! Collect special stickers and rewards along the way. Complete the Challenge and receive your gold medal, you're now a Wild World Hero. It's open to existing and new library members free of charge. If you're not already a member, visit the Join your Library web page.

Have your say

We hope that you and your child have or are still enjoying Wild World Heroes, this year's Summer Reading Challenge. If your child hasn't finished yet, they have until 18 September to read six books and collect their certificate and medal. If they have finished, they are officially a Wild World Hero!

We would love to hear about your Summer Reading Challenge experience by completing a short survey, even if your child hasn't completed the Challenge (yet). Your feedback is important to help us understand more about your experience and demonstrate the value of the programme. The survey is seven questions and should take about 5-10 minutes to complete.

The survey will remain open until 30 September and can be completed here on the survey web page.
