Latest guidance to keep both staff and readers safe

In line with Government advice, libraries in Surrey reopened for browsing and computer use from Monday 12 April. Please check the Surrey Libraries web page for details and opening times before visiting.

Click and Collect Service

Library members can browse the online catalogue to reserve their books free of charge and will be notified when the books are ready to be collected. Collections will be available from many of Surrey's libraries. A full list of libraries offering Click and Collect along with their opening times can be found on the Surrey Libraries Coronavirus page.

Ready Reads

Bookworms and casual readers alike can browse for books in the online library catalogue or fill out the Ready Reads Request Form, if they want library staff to assemble a surprise collection of books for them based on their reading preferences. Surprise book boxes can be put together for both adults and children. Collections are available from many of Surrey's libraries at library entrances. Those without internet access can call the contact centre, who will connect them to their library.

eBooks, eAudiobooks, newspapers and magazines for free

Libraries will also continue to offer an extensive selection of digital services, providing access to over 30,000 eBooks, eAudiobooks, newspapers and magazines for free. These can be read online or downloaded using the RB Digital App and Press reader.

Online events

Surrey's library team continues to offer an extensive online events programme with daily events and access to over 200 videos featuring rhyme times, storytimes, stem activities, crafts and much more. To watch their videos visit Surrey Libraries UK YouTube channel.

Normal service will be resuming, and normal charges will start to apply again. Please check your library account to make sure your books and other items don't become overdue.

Click and Collect libraries continue to accept returns, either while readers collect new books or via 'out of hours' return slots.

Computer access

Residents who require access to computers will be able to do so on an appointment only basis. To book a slot, residents are asked to call the contact centre 0345 600 9009, choose Option 6, who will connect them to their local library.

Please note: Computer access will not be available at the following libraries: Bramley, Ewell Court, Lightwater, Lingfield, New Haw, Stoneleigh and Virginia Water.

COVID secure services

To get books and resources safely into the hands of readers, libraries in Surrey continue to operate under comprehensive safety and social distancing measures. A queuing system will be in place to ensure social distancing and readers are asked to follow government guidelines when using the service. As part of Surrey Libraries' COVID secure measures, returned books are 'quarantined' for 72 hours before they can be borrowed again.

For further details about all of these services and local library information visit the main Surrey Libraries website.
