Christmas paper and card recycling

Published: 28 November 2018

'Tis the season for recycling

The countdown to Christmas has begun. Christmas cards are filling post boxes, cardboard packaged gifts are landing on doorsteps and empty mince pie boxes are piling up high. Luckily, in Surrey you can recycle your festive paper and card with ease.

Whether you have empty chocolate boxes, old envelopes or used wrapping paper, there is room in your recycling bin for them all. Just remember that you can't recycle anything with glitter on, wrapping paper that doesn't rip or cards with batteries.

Mike Goodman, Surrey County Council's Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport, said: "During the festive season when we accumulate so much paper and card, it's important that residents remember how easy it is to recycle it in Surrey. Together we can save these festive items from being thrown away, which in turn will help our environment and the county to save money."

To check what else you can recycle where you live this Christmas and all year round, visit the Recycle for Surrey website and use our search tool or download the app. Many rubbish and recycling collections also change over the festive period, so check the dates with your local district or borough council.
