Local fair brings Christmas sparkle to Park Barn

On 9 December 2017 at Park Barn Community Centre, the scene was set for the Fair Before Christmas. The fair itself was organised by Guildford Borough Council's Project Aspire Team. The project is well known within the borough for its great work, including all the work it does with Park Barn and its surrounding areas.

The exciting festive line-up included lots activities to entertain everybody, the fair hosted an array of stalls selling handmade and local Christmas gifts. Delicious food, including mince pies and mulled wine, were on offer, as well as toasted marshmallow hot chocolate and children got to have lots of fun making decorations for our twinkling Christmas tree. The Rhythm of Life Community Choir also sang traditional Christmas carols throughout the afternoon.

The fair was an opportunity for all of the communities in Guildford to celebrate Christmas and share the importance of community spirit! The fair was also attended by local borough councillors and the Leader of Guildford Borough, councillor Paul Spooner, who praised all the hard work of the organisers of the fair.

A small part of the fair was also funded through our Local Members' Allocation scheme, three of Guildford's county councillors funded the lovely Snowman for everybody to enjoy. Cllr Angela Goodwin, Cllr David Goodwin and Cllr Fiona White all made their contribution to ensuring that Mr Snowman could bring his festive joy to the fair.

The Members' Allocation deadline has now been extended until 31 January. For more information contact your county councillor.
