Fire safety education in schools

Following the Prevention Review, in April 2011, there has been a reduction in the number of dedicated education posts. Until further notice the universal provision of classroom visits to Year groups 2, 5 and 8 is suspended.

The Schools Fire Safety Education Programme will now be delivered on a prioritised basis informed by local risk. Targeted provision will still be available for schools that have experienced fire setting incidents and to those schools specifically working with children with special educational or behavioural needs. Surrey Fire and Rescue Service will continue to work in partnership, with other agencies, to support the delivery of junior citizens.
