There are various national testing programmes available to different people. This can depend on your workplace setting and business or organisation you work for.
- Testing for pupils and staff in educational settings
- Care home testing
- Workplace testing for all businesses
Testing for pupils and staff in educational settings
Twice-weekly symptom-free testing is available to those in the following educational settings:
- Secondary school, college, university and further education students
- Early years, primary school, secondary school, college, university and further education staff
Home educated secondary school age children can access rapid lateral flow tests by collection of self-test kits by parents from participating sites or by ordering them online for home delivery. Further information can be found on our Collection and delivery of home rapid lateral flow tests webpage.
Individuals should refer to the relevant guidance for the details of the symptom-free testing recommended in each setting:
Care home testing
In England, all registered adult care homes can apply for coronavirus testing kits to test the residents and/or staff of your care home. You can apply whether or not any of your residents or staff have coronavirus symptoms. Find out more and apply on GOV.UK's care home testing page.
Workplace testing for all businesses
Workplaces can no longer order free rapid lateral flow tests for their employees. Instead, they can buy their own tests and set up their own workplace testing or pay an approved provider to provide tests or run a test site for them. If they cannot provide testing, workplaces can ask their employees to get a rapid lateral flow test at home or at a test site.
