Crossrail 2 is a proposed multi-billion pound rail infrastructure project being developed by Transport for London and Network Rail. It would connect stations in Hertfordshire and Surrey via a new tunnel between Wimbledon and New Southgate/ Tottenham Hale in north London.
Crossrail 2 was identified as a priority in the Surrey Rail Strategy because the project could provide much needed capacity on the congested South West Main Line into London Waterloo.
The county council has commissioned consultants to undertake an assessment of the scheme. The objectives of the assessment are:
- To identify the optimum configuration of Crossrail 2 services for Surrey and the best use of released capacity; and
- To provide an evidence base for use when providing input and response to the Crossrail 2 design development and subsequent consultation process.
The report and appendices are available to download below.
