Rural grants and funding

There are several rural grants and funding available in Surrey.

LEADER Grant Programme

LEADER programme applications open till December 2018 - apply now

LEADER is a grant programme from the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE) available to farmers, foresters, community enterprises and rural-based businesses. It aims to improve the economy and quality of life for people in rural Surrey.

LEADER usually awards grants from £2,500 to £50,000, however some awards can be bigger. A maximum of 40% of total costs is a typical award, however, different grant rates apply, depending on the type of project. Read about success stories at Rural Surrey LEADER.

Wood Processing Grant Programme

The Enterprise M3 Wood Processing Grant Programme is an initiative to support enterprising timber businesses. The programme will provide capital grants to small and medium sized businesses to part-fund projects that create jobs and strengthen and expand the operation of the wood processing industry and hubs in the area.

If your forestry business operates in the Enterprise M3 region you could apply for an individual grant of between £35,000-£150,000.

Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE) Growth Programme

Grant funding for projects in England which create jobs and growth in the rural economy. There are three funding streams:

  • food processing
  • business development
  • rural tourism infrastructure
