Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2022

On 21 April 2022, Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned temporary order, the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along that length of Public Footpaths 40 and 584 (Brockham) from the junction with Public Footpaths 585 & 585a (Grid Ref: 517345, 151226), to the junction with Public Footpath 38 as shown as a red line between points A & B on the accompanying map.

The Order is necessary on the grounds of public safety due to works taking place on or near the footpath. The closure will be in operation from 2 May 2022 for a period of 3 months, or until completion of the works, if earlier. That period can be extended by the Secretary of State for Transport if required.

The temporary closure will only be in operation when appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected.

The alternative route from the western end of the closure will be: Proceed in a westerly direction along Public Footpaths 585 then 40, crossing the River Mole, to reach the junction with London Road (A24). Turn right and proceed in a northerly direction on the footway alongside London Road to the junction with Old London Road at the roundabout. Turn right onto Old London Road/Public Footpath 36 and proceed in a northerly direction to the junction with Public Bridleway 37. Turn onto Bridleway 37 and proceed in a south-easterly direction to the junction with Zig Zag Road. Turn right onto Zig Zag Road and proceed in a southerly direction to the National Trust path off Zig Zag Road. Turn right onto the oath and proceed in a southerly direction to the eastern end of the closure. The alternative route from the eastern end of the closure will be reverse of the one described above.

The Surrey County Council Public Footpaths 40 & 584 (Brockham) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2022 was made by the County Council under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
