Notice of Confirmation of Orders
Highways Act 1980 & Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981
Surrey County Council Footpath No. 69 (Ripley)
Public Path Diversion Order 2018


On 17 July 2020, an Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs confirmed the above named Order made under section 119 of the Highways Act 1980 and section 53A(2) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
The effect of the Order as confirmed is to divert Footpath 69 (Ripley) from a point (grid ref 505339 155752), 88m north of Orchard Cottages, in a north-easterly direction alongside the A3 slip road then turning south-easterly, north easterly and then north-westerly around the service station boundary for a total distance of 511m, to a line running from the same point around a field edge in a north-easterly, south-easterly, north-easterly then north-westerly for a total distance of 527m to re-join its definitive line (grid ref 505559 156089) as shown on the Order Map.

On 17 July 2020, an Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs confirmed the above Order with modifications made under Section 26 of the Highways Act 1980 and section 53A(2) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. The effect of the Order as confirmed is to create Footpath 610 (Ripley) from a point (grid ref 505559 156089) at its junction with footpath 69 (Ripley) in a westerly direction for 2m to a kissing gate at its junction with the northern boundary of the A3 service station (grid ref 505557 156089). All reference to Footpath 609 has been deleted.

Copies of the Orders as confirmed and the maps may be seen free of charge at the Countryside Access Office, Surrey County Council, Merrow Depot, Merrow Lane, Guildford GU4 7BQ (by appointment Tel. 03456 009009) and Guildford Library, North Street, Guildford, during opening hours. The notice can also be viewed on www.surreycc.gov.uk under Footpaths, Byways and Bridleways. Copies of the Orders may be purchased from the County Council for £4 each.

The Orders come into force on the date of certification of the necessary works but if a person aggrieved by the Orders want to question their validity or that of any provision contained in them on the ground that they are not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980 as amended or on the ground that any requirement of the Act as amended or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Orders he or she may under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act within 6 weeks from 11 September 2020 make an application to the High Court.
