Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2021

The Surrey County Council Public Footpath No. 437 (Ewhurst) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2021 was made on the grounds of public safety due to construction work taking place on or near the footpath. The Order came into operation on 2 July 2021. It was due to expire on 11 December 2021 but has now been continued in force by the Secretary of State for Transport until 30 June 2022 or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier.

The Order as continued prohibits all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding in that length of Public Footpath No. 437 (Ewhurst) which extends from the junction with Cranleigh Road (Grid ref. 509158 139992) in a generally north-westerly direction for approximately 186 metres to the junction with Public Footpath No. 436.

The prohibition described above will only be operative while the County Council, or an authorised person acting on its behalf, displays signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002 (S.I. 2002 No. 3113) prohibiting the said movements. Access to properties will not be affected.

The alternative route from the south-eastern end of the closure is to proceed in a north-easterly direction along Cranleigh Road to the junction with The Street. Turn left onto the Street and proceed in a north-westerly direction to the junction with Footpath 436. Turn left onto Footpath 436 and proceed in a south westerly and then southerly direction to the north-westerly end of the closure. The alternative route for traffic from the north-westerly end of the closure is the reverse of the route described above.
