Temporary Prohibition Of Traffic Order 2014
On 17 April 2014 Surrey County Council made the above temporary order to prohibit all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along Public Footpath 18 (Staines) from a point approximately 80m to the north of its junction with Moor Lane (Grid Ref TQ02747277) across the railway line in a northerly direction for 25m (across Moor Lane Level Crossing). The Order is necessary due to the likelihood of danger to the public. The closure has been in operation since 18 April 2014 and was due to expire on 18 February 2021. On 22 January 2021 the Secretary of State extended the closure for the fourteenth time until 18 August 2021, or until the danger has abated, whichever is earlier. The temporary closure will only operate while the County Council, or an authorised person acting on its behalf, displays signs prohibiting the said movements. Access to properties will not be affected.
The alternative route from the southern end of the closure will be: from Moor Lane Level Crossing proceed along Public Footpath 18 (Staines) in a southerly direction to its junction with Moor Lane. Turn right onto Moor Lane and proceed in a generally north-westerly, then northerly direction, crossing a bridge over the railway line and continue to its junction with Public Bridleway 50 (Staines). Proceed along Public Bridleway 50 (Staines) in a generally north-easterly direction to its junction with Public Footpath 17 (Staines). Turn right onto Public Footpath 17 (Staines) and proceed in a generally southerly direction to its junction with Public Footpath 18 (Staines). Turn right onto Public Footpath 18 (Staines) and proceed in a southerly direction to reach the northern end of closure. From the northern end of the closure the alternative will be the reverse of the route described above.
The Surrey County Council Public Footpath 18 (Staines) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2014 was made by the County Council under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
