Temporary Prohibition Of Traffic Order 2019

The Surrey County Council Public Footpath 115 (Dorking) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2019 was made because of the likelihood of danger to the public due to an unsafe staircase leading to the railway crossing. The Order came into operation on 12 August 2019 and was due to expire on 30 September 2020. It has now been continued in force by the Secretary of State for Transport for a Fifth time and is now due to expire 31 December 2020, or until the completion of the remedial works if earlier.

The Order as continued prohibits all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along that length of Public Footpath 115 (Dorking) at the point where it crosses the railway line east of Landbarn Farm, Westcott at Grid Ref: 513883, 149829. The temporary closure will only operate while the County Council, or an authorised person acting on its behalf, displays signs prohibiting the said movements. Access to properties will not be affected.

The alternative route from the southern end of the closure will be: Proceed in a south-easterly direction on Footpath 115 to reach the junction with Footpath 602. Turn left onto Footpath 602 and proceed in an easterly direction to reach the junction with Footpath 114. Turn left onto Footpath 114 and proceed in a northerly direction, crossing the railway at the foot crossing. Continue in a northerly direction and cross the Pilgrims Way path to reach Footpath 108. Continue in a northerly direction on Footpath 108 to reach the junction with Footpath 587 (The North Downs Way). Turn left onto Footpath 587 and proceed in a westerly direction to the junction with Footpath 109. Turn left onto Footpath 109 and proceed in a southerly direction, crossing the Pilgrims Way path, to reach the northern end of the closure. The alternative route from the northern end of the closure will be the reverse of the above.
