Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2021

On 13 July 2021 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned temporary order, the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along that length of Public Footpath 265 (Shalford) which extends from the junction with Chinthurst Lane (Grid ref: 500561, 146591) in a generally northerly direction to the junction with Christmas Hill.

The Order is necessary on the grounds of public safety due to works to repair a wall taking place on or near the footpath. The closure will be in operation from 13 July 2021 until 31 August 2021, or until completion of the works, if earlier. That period can be extended by the Secretary of State for Transport if required.

The temporary closure will only be in operation when appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected by the temporary closure.

The alternative route from the southern end of the closure is to proceed in a north-westerly direction along Chinthurst Lane to the junction with Public Footpath 266. Turn right onto Public Footpath 266 and proceed in a northerly then north-westerly direction to the junction with Kings Road. Turn right onto Kings Road and proceed in an easterly direction to the junction with Christmas Hill. Turn right onto Christmas Hill and proceed in a southerly direction to the northern end of the closure. The alternative route for traffic from the northern end of the closure is the reverse of the route described above.
