Notice

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Section 14(1) & (2)
The Surrey County Council
Public Footpath No. 40 (Brockham)
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2020

On 30 April 2020 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned temporary order, the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along that length of Public Footpath No. 40 (Brockham), where it crosses the River Mole at the Stepping Stones (Grid ref. 517216 151298).

The Order is necessary by reason of danger to the public due to the disrepair of the stepping stones over the River Mole. The closure will be in operation from 4 May 2020 until 22 September 2020, or until completion of the works, if earlier. That period can be extended by the Secretary of State for Transport if required.

The temporary closure will only be in operation when appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected.

The alternative route from the north western end of the closure is to proceed in a north westerly direction along Footpath 40 to its junction with Footpath 585a. Turn right onto Footpath 585a and proceed in a north easterly and then easterly direction and then southerly direction to its junction with Footpath 40. Turn right onto Footpath 40 and proceed in a north westerly direction to the south eastern end of the closure. The alternative route for traffic from the south eastern end of the closure is the reverse of the route described above.

'The Surrey County Council Public Footpath No. 40 (Brockham) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2020' was made by the County Council under Section 14(1) & (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
