Footpath 7 (Wisley)

The Surrey County Council
Public Footpath 7 (Wisley)
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2017
Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Section 14(1)

On 7 April 2017, Surrey County Council made the above temporary closure order, the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along that length of Public Footpath No. 7 (Wisley) which extends from a point north of Aberconway House, RHS Garden Wisley in a southerly direction for approximately 160 metres and from a point south of the car park in a west, north-westerly direction for approximately 100 metres.

The Order is necessary on the grounds of public safety due to construction works at the RHS Garden, Wisley. The closure has been in operation since 7 April 2017 and was due to expire on 30 June 2020. The Secretary of State for Transport has now extended that period until 31 December 2020 or until completion of the works, whichever is earlier.

The prohibition described above will only be operative while the County Council, or an authorised person acting on its behalf, displays signs prohibiting the said movements.

The alternative route from the southern end of the closure is to enter the car park and proceed along for approximately 60 metres in a northerly direction, then turn left and continue for approximately 60 metres in a westerly direction. Exit the car park and continue on the unaffected section of Footpath No.7 (Wisley) in a northerly direction for approximately 150 metres. Re-enter the car park and continue in a generally easterly, then north, north-westerly direction for approximately 350 metres where the route re-joins Footpath No.7 (Wisley). The alternative route from the northern end of the closure is the reverse of the above.

The Surrey County Council Public Footpath No. 7 (Wisley) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2017 was made by the County Council under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
