Footpath 460 (Worplesdon)

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Section 14(1)
The Surrey County Council
Public Footpath 460 (Worplesdon)
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2020

On 8 April 2020 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned temporary order, the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along that length and width of footpath 460 (Worplesdon) from point A in a south-westerly direction for 5 metres where it crosses a drainage channel to the south of Aldershot Road by means of a footbridge to point B at Grid Ref. 496096 1526489 and which is marked by a solid bold pink line on the Order plan attached below.

The Order is necessary on the grounds of public safety due to damage to the bridge and whilst repair work is in preparation and being undertaken.

The closure will be in operation for a period of six months from 13 April 2020 or until completion of the works, if earlier. That period can be extended by the Secretary of State for Transport if required.

The temporary closure will only be in operation when appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected.

The alternative route from point A, the eastern end of the closure, is to proceed in a north-easterly direction along footpath 460 for 64 metres. Turn right, in a southerly direction for 85 metres, then generally north-westerly for 70 metres. Cross the drain by means of the footbridge and continue for a further 41 metres to re-join footpath 460. Turn right in a north-easterly direction for 40 metres to the south-westerly end of the closure at B.

The alternative route for traffic from the eastern end of the closure will be the reverse of the route described above.

The Surrey County Council Public Footpath 460 (Worplesdon) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2020 was made by the County Council under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
