Footpath 15a (Banstead)

The Surrey County Council
Public Footpath No.15a (Banstead)
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2019
Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Section 14(1)

On 11 October 2019 Surrey County Council made the above temporary closure order, the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along that part of Public Footpath No. 15a (Banstead) which extends from a point on High Street, Banstead at the site of The Woolpack Public House shown as point A (Grid ref: 525835, 159910) in a south-south-easterly and then south-south-westerly direction for approximately 80 metres to a point B at the southern edge of the land holding shown as point B (Grid ref: 525834, 159833). This is shown as a solid red line between points A – B on the closure plan.

The Order is necessary on the grounds of public safety due to construction works at The Woolpack Public House. The closure will be in operation from 11 October until 1 December 2019 or until completion of the works, if earlier. The Secretary of State for Transport can extend that period if required.

The prohibition described above will only be operative while the County Council, or an authorised person acting on its behalf, displays signs prohibiting the said movements.

The alternative route from the northern end of the closure will be to proceed along a route that initially runs parallel to the Definitive Footpath from point A, along the inside boundary of the land holding in a south-south-easterly and then south-westerly direction for approximately 87m to point B. The alternative route from the southern end of the closure will be the reverse of the above. This route is shown as a solid blue line between points A –B on the closure plan.

The Surrey County Council Public Footpath No. 15a (Banstead) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2019 will be made by the County Council under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
