The Order is necessary by reason of danger to the public because of deep mud. It will be in operation from 6 February 2022 until 15 July 2022 or until completion of the works to repair the paths if earlier, and while the relevant notices are displayed. The Secretary of State for Transport can extend that period if required.

The temporary closure will only be in operation when appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected.

There are no recommended alternative routes.

The 'Surrey County Council Public Bridleway No. 520 and Footpath Nos. 521, 551, 552 and 553 (Betchworth) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2022' was made by the County Council under Section 14(1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
