The salary is £30,660 per annum pro rata for 18 hours a week which is £ 15,330. The post is 0.5 FTE (18 hours / week).

Surrey Adult Learning (SAL) is seeking an enthusiastic and well organised individual to plan and deliver high quality learning for adults in Maths GCSE and Functional Skills Maths and act as expert practitioner in the delivery of accredited programmes. To support and mentor other Adult Learning tutors, including through observations of teaching and learning. To act as a critical friend while promoting the sharing of good practice, leading to higher standards of quality in teaching, learning and assessment. To assist in the role of programme planning and quality improvement for the Maths curriculum area. You will support the Curriculum Manager and other members of the team in developing provision in Maths.

About the role

The post holder will be expected to design a structured teaching programme for each course, in agreement with the Curriculum Manager, that reflects the subject and level and that will match the needs of learners using appropriate Schemes of Work and Lesson Plans and relevant teaching materials. Complete and maintain all required quality documentation necessary for the course and to meet external awarding body requirements.

You would be expected to support and advise tutors to develop a consistent approach to their planning, delivery, sourcing of materials, quality improvement, risk assessment and evaluation of courses, within Maths. You will develop curriculum materials and other resources and/or documentation appropriate to supporting the work of tutors within the specific programme area. The ability to communicate effectively, to give feedback and develop supportive relationships is essential.

Job details

You must be able to use IT confidently and manage your working time flexibly and effectively. Experience of teaching adults, a Teaching Certificate and appropriate subject expertise are essential.

The role involves some travel to our adult learning centres. The post holder would also be required to do some evening and weekend work.
