As part of the overall transformation programme across the Children, Families, Learning and Culture Directorate, Patricia Denney, Director of Quality Performance has recognised the need for the division to provide better performance management and quality assurance in relation to the delivery of our operational services and is striving for change that will deliver this by providing:

  • Improved strategic planning with our partners
  • Clear and consistent business planning across the division
  • The ability to analyse and act upon information and intelligence to enable continuous improvement

We have a unique opportunity available for the right individual to join the division as a Service Manager to lead and deliver our Surrey Children's Service Workforce Academy.

Service Manager - Children's Service Workforce Academy

£60,258 - £68,151 based in Kingston Upon Thames (full time 36 hours per week)

As the Service Manager for the Surrey Children's Service Workforce Academy you will be joining the Quality Performance division at a time of significant change, as we transform our Children's Services. We have new management in place, and are implementing innovative approaches to what we do to deliver our vision. We have made a great start, and are now looking for a dedicated Service Manager to join and strengthen our management team.

This role is a unique opportunity that will see you lead on improving our strategic planning with the development and implementation of the new Surrey Children's Workforce Academy. The Academy aims to use best practice and knowledge to inform the work we do, to establish a shared language, model and culture that supports Surrey's children and their families. Your professional leadership will be critical in ensuring that collectively we promote and work to the highest standards of professional, management and leadership practice across our children's workforce. This Academy follows a model which has been established across the country. It is unique in that it is a partnership academy supporting all those working with children, young people and families in Surrey. This is an exciting opportunity for the candidate to be the forefront of its delivery over the coming years as we embed our new ways of working.

You will have the proven ability to build and maintain strong and purposeful working relationships with partners, working co productively to ensure that everyone working with children and their families has the opportunity to develop their skills, learning and career, so that we build and retain a workforce with the skills we need. Your specialist skills and knowledge will see you act as an advisor to senior management on local and national social work practice, you will lead the way as the professional champion for high quality and innovative practice in Surrey.
