Subject to the ongoing situation, it's essential that we continue recruiting safely. Therefore, interviews and communication will be virtual wherever possible and this will be communicated to you directly by the hiring manager.
Please also expect that advert closing dates and interview dates may change as required. We still continue to welcome applications for our current roles and wish you the best of luck with your application.
We would welcome applications especially for our most critical roles to ensure we're supporting our residents
Traineeships provide an education and training programme, together with work experience, that helps unlock the potential of young people aged 16 to 24, preparing them for future careers by becoming 'work ready'.
What is involved?
- English and Maths Functional Skills
- Work preparation training
- High quality work experience placement
Who can be a trainee?
Young people aged 16-24 who:
- are not in education, training or employment
- need to increase their work experience
- are qualified below Level 3. This means that they might have GCSEs, entry, level 1 or level 2 qualifications or none at all.
What is the aim of a traineeship?
The aim is to help young people to get the skills and experience they need to get an apprenticeship or a paid job.
How long will the traineeship last for?
The placement with Surrey County Council will be between six weeks and a maximum of five months. We will advise how long the traineeship placement is.
What happens at the end of the placement?
Surrey County Council will offer a guaranteed interview at the end of the placement if you are successful with your training. This will either be a formal interview for a job vacancy or apprenticeship if there is one available or an exit interview. We will give you feedback to help you to improve your work.
A reference for any future employers will be provided by Surrey County Council about the time spent on the traineeship placement
