What support might I access after my last day of service?

There are sources of support that you can access both during employment and after you have left the council.

  • Citizens Advice Bureau is a great source of general advice and support on your situation after redundancy, benefits and debts and careers advice.
  • GOV.UK can help you to find out about the range of support available to help you cope with redundancy. You can search for work and get practical help when applying for jobs. You can also use the online benefits calculators to find out what benefits you and your family may be entitled to.
  • Univeral Jobmatch – Universal Jobmatch is an on-line job listing and matching service for anyone looking for work. In addition there is a useful toolkit which helps you build a CV, apply for jobs and establish contact with potential employers.
  • Learn direct is a really useful source of information on dealing with redundancy including useful tips and advice to help you manage your money.
  • National Careers Service provides information, advice and guidance to help you make decisions on learning, training and work opportunities. The service offers confidential, helpful and impartial advice, supported by qualified careers advisers. They can offer advice on learning and work issues, help you explore which careers would suit you best, provide tips on searching for a job and help you to improve your interview skills.
