Gypsy Traveller sites

Surrey County Council owns 17 permanent Gypsy and Traveller Caravan sites across the County.

Surrey County Council directly manages 14 sites:

  • Littleton Lane, Shepperton
  • Swift Lane, Bagshot
  • The Willows, Runfold
  • Travellers Rest, Mickleham
  • Conifer Park, Kiln Lane, Epsom
  • Kalima, Chobham
  • Pendell Camp, Merstham
  • Elm Farm, Chertsey
  • The Paddocks, Virginia Water
  • The Hatchingtan, Woking
  • Salvation Place, Leatherhead
  • Conifer Park, Dorking
  • Brambledown, Dorking
  • The Oaks, Claygate

Epsom and Ewell Borough Council manage one site on this Council's behalf:

  • Greenlands, Cox Lane, Epsom

Guildford Borough Council manages two sites on this Council’s behalf:

  • Clasford Bridge, Normandy
  • Ash Bridge, Ash

These are permanent sites with plots for which the Traveller signs a licence and pays rent. They should not be confused with transit sites, of which Surrey County Council has none.

There are over 50+ Gypsy/Traveller sites across the county, most are privately owned and do not come under the Council or local authority responsibility.


Management of the Gypsy/Traveller Site Waiting List

Surrey County Council holds a waiting list for Gypsies and Travellers who wish to be considered for plots on any of the sites owned and managed directly by the Council. The site allocation criteria (pdf) and an application form are available. The waiting list for Greenlands, Cox Lane is held by Epsom and Ewell council. Enquiries about this site should be directed to them.

Guildford Borough Council holds a waiting list for Clasford Bridge and Ash Bridge. Enquiries about this site should be directed to Guildford Borough council.
