The Surrey Youth Arts and Culture Festival in Staines-upon-Thames is delivered in partnership between Surrey County Council Libraries and Arts Service, Spelthorne Borough Council, Business Improvement District, the Elmsleigh Shopping Centre, Spelthorne Youth Hub, and a wide range of cultural and community organisations.

Performances
North Surrey Strings Ensemble!
Relax and enjoy a Surrey Arts ensemble performance from the North Surrey Strings Ensemble. Surrey Arts offer ensembles for all abilities across Surrey including bands, choirs, after school music groups and clubs, and orchestras.

Frock, by Stopgap Dance Company
Six striking dancers collide in an uplifting dance riot accompanied by especially composed original music by Hannah Miller and Oli Austin of Moulettes. In this quirky dance piece, you'll watch playful observations of the yesteryears explode into a 'punkish' celebration of individuality and difference.

North Surrey Guitar Ensemble!

The Rock Project

Wreath Making with Sunbury Gallery
Join us for an exciting and enjoyable workshop where you will discover how to make a unique and attractive fabric wreath! Have you ever wanted to join a band? Come along to the Rock Project, and experience group tuition as you form your very own rock and pop groups. The Rock Project offer group lessons in electric guitar, bass guitar, drums and vocals and the opportunity for young people aged 7-18 years old to put their musical skills into practice by regularly performing each week as part of a band.

DJ Workshop
Gain DJ experience with a Surrey Arts course on the 'Wheels of Steel'. Learn how to DJ on top of the rage Roland 808 DJ Consoles and learn Serato DJ Pro mixing software. Learn on a digital and portable DJ set up built to play the biggest DJ sets at any event. Beat Matching, Scratching, Sound Manipulation, cutting and blending music is all demonstrated and can be attempted and achieved with only a love of music required, no previous knowledge, experience, or training. Real explorers can record their own DJ Sets and DJ live and back to back with other students.

Rapping and Writing with Breis
Rapper and author Breis, delivers a fun and interactive session with a focus on improving writing and performance skills. Participants explore poetic devices employed in rap e.g., rhyme schemes, metaphors, similes, punch lines, wordplay etc. and discuss topics of interest before carrying out writing exercises.

Ensemble and Collaborative Performance Making
This workshop will explore ways of connecting and creating theatre together and will focus on skills in ensemble performance making. Exploring movement, breath, and voice as starting points in the devising process, this practical session will foster collaborative ways of working and introduce skills in readiness, improvisation, and rhythm.
