Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023
On 16 March 2023 Surrey County Council made a temporary order to prohibit all traffic on foot or any other means from entering or proceeding along that length of:
- Footpath No. 197 (Shere) from its junction with Bridleway 202 (Grid ref. 507302 143295) in a westerly direction to its junction with Bridleway 205.
- Footpath No. 223 (Shere) from its junction with Bridleway 224 (Grid ref. 506376 143525) in a south easterly direction to its junction with Bridleway 205.
- Footpath No. 225 (Shere) from its junction with Bridleway 224 (Grid ref. 506387 143111) in an easterly direction to its junction with Bridleway 205.
- Bridleway No. 224 (Albury) from its junction with Footpath 225 (Grid ref. 506391 143115) in a northerly direction to the junction with Bridleway 205a (Albury)
- Bridleway 205a (Albury) from its junction with Bridleway 205 (Grid ref. 506526 143834) in a south westerly then southerly direction to its merging with Bridleway 205a
- Bridleway 205 (Shere) & (Cranleigh) from its junction with Footpath 208 (Grid ref. 506435 144272) in a generally southerly direction to its junction with Bridleway 224.
- Footpath 208 (Albury) from its junction with Bridleway 203 (Grid ref. 506659 144441) in a south westerly direction to its junction with Bridleway 205.
- Bridleway 203 (Shere) from its junction with Hound House Road ( Grid Ref. 507512 143914) to its junction with Footpath 208.
- Bridleway 202 (Shere) from its junction with Bridleways 201 and 202 (Shere) (Grid Ref. 507345 143548) in a generally north westerly direction to its junction with Bridleway 203.
- Footpath 204 from its junction with Hound House Road (Grid Ref. 507486 143984) in a generally north westerly direction, by which it merges into Footpath 204 (Shere), to the junction with Bridleway 203.
The Order is necessary by reason of danger to the public due to works on and next to the path. It will be in operation from 20 March 2023 until 12 May 2023 or until completion of the works, if earlier, and while the relevant notices are displayed. The Secretary of State for Transport can extend that period if required.
The temporary closure will only be in operation when appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected.
There are no alternative routes.
