Public Path Diversion Order 2026
On 4 August 2026, Surrey County Council confirmed the above Order made under section 119 of the Highways Act 1980 and section 53A(2) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
The effect of the Order as confirmed is to divert Footpath 72 (Abinger) running from O.S.Grid Ref. 512453 138979 in a north westerly turning to westerly direction for 268 metres to O.S. Grid Ref. 152222 139123, to a line running from the same point in a west north westerly direction for 226 metres to O.S.Grid Ref. 512235 139068 turning to a northerly direction for 56 metres to O.S. Grid Ref.152222 139123, as shown on the order map
A copy of the Order as confirmed may be seen free of charge by appointment (Tel. 0300 200 1003) at Surrey County Council, Whitebeam Lodge, Merrow Depot, Merrow Lane, Guildford GU4 7BQ and at Mole Valley District Council Offices, Pippbrook, Dorking RH4 1SJ during normal office hours, and at Dorking Library, St Martin’s Walk, Dorking RH4 1UT, during opening hours. The notice can also be viewed on www.surreycc.gov.uk under Footpaths, Byways and Bridleways. A copy of the Order may be purchased from the County Council for £4.
The Order came into force on 11 August 2026 but if a person aggrieved by the Order wants to question its validity or that of any provision contained in it on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highway Act 1980 as amended or on the ground that any requirement of the Act as amended or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order he or she may under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act within six weeks from 13 August 2026 make an application to the High Court.
