Public Path Diversion Order 2023

On 12 December 2023, Surrey County Council confirmed the above Order made under section 119 of the Highways Act 1980 and section 53A (2) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. The effect of the Order as confirmed is to divert Footpath No 99 (Reigate) from Point 'B' (Grid Ref 529896 154762) in a northerly direction for 21 metres to Point 'C' (Grid Ref 529896 154762) then in an easterly direction for 30 metres to point 'A' (Grid Ref 529926 154763) as shown on Drawing No. 3/1/37/H85. Total distance B – C – A 51 metres. The footpath to have a width of 2 metres.

A copy of the Order and Map may be seen free of charge at the Countryside Access Office, Surrey County Council, Merrow Depot, Merrow Lane, Guildford GU4 7BQ (by appointment Tel. 0300 200 1003) and at Reigate and Banstead Borough Council, Town Hall, Castlefield Road, Reigate, Surrey, RH2 0SH or Reigate Library, Bancroft Road, Reigate, Surrey RH2 7RP during opening hours. The notice can also be viewed on www.surreycc.gov.uk under Footpaths, Byways and Bridleways. A copy of the Order may be purchased from the County Council for £4.

The Order came into force on 20 December 2023, but if a person aggrieved by the Order wants to question its validity or that of any provision contained in it on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highway Act 1980 as amended or on the ground that any requirement of the Act as amended or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order he or she may under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act within six weeks from 11 January 2024 make an application to the High Court.
