Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2020

The Surrey County Council Public Footpath 599, 600, 601 (Witley) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2020 was made to protect public safety during the redevelopment of Winkford Farm. The Order came into force on 16 November 2020.

It was due to expire on 16 May 2021, and was extended by the Secretary of State for Transport until 16 May 2022. It has recently been continued in force again by the Secretary of State for Transport until 16 May 2023 or until completion of the works, whichever is earlier.

The Order as continued will have the effect of prohibiting all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along part of Public Footpath 599, 600 and 601 (Witley) as described below and shown on the closure plan 3/1/16/H45:

Public Footpath 599 (Witley) from a point approximately 30 m south of the Winkford Farm running north and then east through Winkworth Farm. This is shown as a solid black line between point A (Grid Ref: 493943 138940) and point B (Grid Ref: 493999 138974) on the closure plan.

Public Footpath 600 (Witley) from point B running north and then north west for approximately 110 m to point C (Grid Ref: 493966 139077), shown as a solid black line on the closure plan.

Public Footpath 601 (Witley) from point B running east for approximately 70 m to point D (Grid ref: 494070 138974), shown as a solid black line on the closure plan.

The prohibition described above will only be operative while the County Council, or an authorised person acting on its behalf, displays signs prohibiting the said movements. Access to properties will not be affected.

The alternative route will be from A to turn and walk in a south easterly direction for 106m and then north easterly direction for 70m to point D and from point C to turn and walk in a south easterly direction for 102m and then southerly direction for 78m to point D. The alternative routes from point D will be the reverse of the above.

The Surrey County Council Public Footpath 599, 600 and 601 (Witley) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2020 was made by the County Council under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
