Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2020
Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Section 14(1)

The Surrey County Council Public Footpath 356 (Ash) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2020 was made on the grounds of public safety due to the development of the adjacent land and delivery of Ash Bridge link road. The Order came into operation on 16 December 2020 and was due to expire on 16 June 2021. It was then continued in force by the Secretary of State until 16 June 2022 and has just been continued again until 16 June 2023 or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier.

The Order as continued will have the effect of prohibiting all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding Public Footpath 356 (Ash) from a point 60m east of Guildford Road running in an easterly direction to a point 46m to the west of Harpers Road. This is shown as a solid black line between points A (Grid Ref: 490068 150870) and B (Grid Ref: 490381 150936) as shown by a solid black line on the closure plan.

The prohibition described above will only be operative while the County Council, or an authorised person acting on its behalf, displays signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002 (S.I. 2002 No. 3113) prohibiting the said movements. Access to properties will not be affected.

The alternative route will be from A to turn and walk in a south easterly, easterly and then northerly direction for 435m to point B. The alternative routes from point B will be the reverse of the above.

The Surrey County Council Public Footpath 356 (Ash) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2020 was made by the County Council under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
