Public Footpath 66 (Egham)
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026

On 19 February 2026 Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned temporary order, the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along that length of Public Footpath 66 (Egham) which extends northeast along the River Thames for 40 metres from point A, Grid ref: 500619 172363, to the southwest of Runnymede Pleasure Ground at point B, Grid ref: 500642 172396, and which is marked by a solid bold line on plan no. 3/1/88/H49.

The order is necessary to enable the refurbishment of Bell Weir. The closure will be in operation for a period of six months from 23 February 2026 or until completion of the works, if earlier. That period can be extended by the Secretary of State for Transport if required.

The temporary closure will only be in operation when appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the county council or an authorised person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected.

The alternative route for traffic from the south will be generally southeast then northeast, west and southwest around the works compound, a total length of 340 metres, and will be signed throughout.

The alternative route for traffic from the northern end of the closure will be the reverse of the route described above.

“The Surrey County Council Public Footpath 66 (Egham) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026” was made by the county council under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
