Public Footpath 58 (Epsom & Ewell) Temporary Closure Order 2022

Notice

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Section 14(1)
The Surrey County Council

Public Footpath 58 (Epsom and Ewell)
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2022

On 9 June 2022 Surrey County Council will make a temporary order to prohibit all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along the length of Public Footpath 58 (Epsom and Ewell) from the junction with Rushett Lane (B208) (Grid ref. 518167 161218) in a generally southerly direction, to a point approximately 50m north-east of the junction with Public Footpath 57.

The Order is necessary on the grounds of public safety due to works taking place on or near the footpath. It will be in operation from 13 June 2022 until 4 July 2022 or until completion of the works, if earlier, and while the relevant notices are displayed. The Secretary of State for Transport can extend that period if required.

The temporary closure will only be in operation when appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected.

The alternative route from the northern end of the closure will be to proceed in an easterly direction along the pavement of Christ Church Road (B208) to Stew Pond car park. Turn into and walk through the car park to the south-western corner. From here proceed along the marked diversion route in a south-westerly direction to the southern end of the closure. The alternative route from the southern end of the closure will be the reverse of the one described above.

The 'Surrey County Council Public Footpath 58 (Epsom and Ewell) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2022' will be made by the County Council under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Dated: 2 June 2022
