Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2022

On 20 October 2022 Surrey County Council will make a temporary order to prohibit all traffic on foot or any other means from entering or proceeding along Public Footpath No. 547 (Horley) from its junction with Yattendon Road (Grid Ref. 528653 143166), across the footbridge to its junction with Station Road for approximately 50 metres.

The Order is necessary for reason of public safety due to refurbishment works being undertaken by Network Rail on the footbridge. It will be in operation from 24 October 2022 until 31 January 2023 or until completion of the works, if earlier, and while the relevant notices are displayed. The Secretary of State for Transport can extend that period if required.

The alternative route is as follows: From the western end of the closure, head south then south west along Yattendon Road/ High Street for approx. 50m until you reach the junction with Footpath 546. Turn left and proceed along Footpath 546, through the subway before emerging at its junction with Station Approach. Head north for approx. 20m to reach the eastern end of the closure.

The temporary closure will only be in operation when appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected.

The 'Surrey County Council Public Footpath No. 547 (Horley) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2022) will be made by Surrey County Council under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
