Public Byway Open to All Traffic No. 407 (Alfold)
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2022

On 24 May 2022 Surrey County Council made a temporary order to prohibit all persons in any motor vehicle or horse drawn carriage from entering or proceeding along BOAT No. 407 (Alfold) from a point 130 metres south of its junction with Public Footpath No. 405 (Alfold) (Grid Ref. 505721 134353) in a south easterly direction for 1050 metres to the County boundary with West Sussex.

The Order is necessary due to danger to the public due to a dangerous surface. It will be in operation from 25 May 2022 until 3 November 2022 or until completion of the works to repair the path, if earlier, and while the relevant notices are displayed. The Secretary of State for Transport can extend that period if required.

The temporary closure will only be in operation when appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected.

There is no alternative route for traffic in motor vehicles or in horse drawn carriages. Traffic on horseback and foot is unaffected.

The 'Surrey County Council Public Byway Open to All Traffic No. 407 (Alfold)Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2022' was made by Surrey County Council under Section 14(1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
