Temporary Prohibition Of Traffic Order 2020
The Surrey County Council Public Byway Open to Traffic 526 (Capel/Wotton) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2020 was made in order to protect the Byway from serious damage following surfacing and bank works, and to allow further works to take place.
The Order came into operation on 26 October 2020. It was due to expire on 5 October 2021 but was extended to 5 October 2022. The Order has been continued in force by the Secretary of State for Transport and will now expire on 5 October 2023, or until the completion of the remedial works if earlier.
The Order as continued prohibits any motorised vehicle with 4 or more wheels and any horse drawn vehicle over 1500 millimetres (4 foot 11 inches) in width from entering or proceeding along that length of Wolvens Lane/Public Byway Open to Traffic 526 (Capel/Wotton) from the junction with Sheephouse Lane, Wotton (Grid ref: 512978, 147384), to the junction with Public Byway Open to All Traffic 527 (Coldharbour Common Road) and Abinger Road, Coldharbour.
Wolvens Lane/ Public Byway Open to Traffic 526 will remain fully open for use by traffic on foot, horseback, bicycle and motorcycle.
The temporary closure will only operate while the County Council, or an authorised person acting on its behalf, displays signs prohibiting the said movements. Access to properties will not be affected.
There is no suggested alternative route for motorised vehicles with 4 or more wheels or any horse drawn vehicle over 1500 millimetres in width.
