Notice

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Sections 14(1) & 2
The Surrey County Council
Public Footpaths 60 (Egham) and 44 (Chertsey)
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023

On 23 November 2023 Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned temporary order, the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along those lengths of Public Footpaths 60 (Egham) and 44 (Chertsey) which cross a footbridge at a point 180 metres north west of Bridge Lane (Grid Reference 500925, 167295). Access to properties will not be affected by the Order.

The Order is necessary for public safety due to an unsafe footbridge. The closure will be in operation from 4 December 2023 until 4 March 2024 or until repair works are completed, whichever is sooner. That period can be extended by the Secretary of State for Transport if required.

The temporary closure will only be in operation when appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf.

There is no suggested alternative route.

The Surrey County Council Public Footpaths 60 (Egham) and 44 (Chertsey) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023 was made by the County Council under Sections 14(1) & (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Dated: 1 December 2023
