Archaeological resources for teachers - Saxons

The PDF files below work together to create a lesson on the Anglo-Saxons using graves found at one of our archaeological excavations. It aims get students to make deductions from graves found in Ashtead, Surrey to learn more about how people lived, but also the limitations of archaeology.

N.B. The striped poles in the photos on the grave profiles are archaeological scales not Saxon spears. The numbers beginning with 'S' at the top of each grave profile correspond to the number given to each grave by the archaeologists who excavated the graves.
