The county council has a significant role in "place shaping" Surrey. This means that we enable communities to live healthily and happily. The county council is able to make interventions when communities are not working. We are responsible for ensuring that we utilise our land and building assets in the best interests of our communities and so delivering services in places where our residents can access them. We are also responsible for building relationships with our public sector partners to ensure our services are aligned and are delivered from single buildings in a seamless way for our residents.
Our teams also work with businesses to develop strategies for increasing the skills of our residents and to enable them to create new jobs. We are aligned to the county's two Local Enterprise Partnerships and together we are responsible for delivering the Government's Industry Strategy designed to improve skills and create new jobs and economic growth in our area.
